Obuasi NAIMOS Accident: MCE Visits Injured Officers and Shares New Details

The MCE for Obuasi Municipal, Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kenin, visited the injured officers at AGA Hospital. During her visit, she assured the community that the Assembly is monitoring the situation and supporting the affected team. Her update provided clearer details about how the Obuasi NAIMOS accident happened and the condition of the officers. The NAIMOS accident involved officers who were on duty fighting illegal mining operations.

Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kenin explained that the team included two police officers, two military officers, and one immigration officer. They were carrying out their routine anti-illegal mining duties when their vehicle suddenly somersaulted. According to a surviving police officer, the crash led to the tragic death of one military officer. The four remaining officers are currently receiving treatment at the AngloGold Ashanti Hospital, and the MCE confirmed that they are responding well to care.

She extended condolences to the family of the deceased and reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting the officers affected by the NAIMOS accident.
