The Sleeping Prince of Saudi Arabia has died at age 36 after spending 20 years in a coma caused by a terrible car crash. Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud was only 15 years old when the accident happened in London in 2005.

The Sleeping Prince of Saudi Arabia suffered severe brain injuries and internal bleeding during the crash while he was studying at a military college. He was later flown to King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, where he stayed in a coma for two decades.

Prince Al-Waleed became known as the Sleeping Prince of Saudi Arabia as his condition touched many hearts. His father, Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, never gave up hope. He kept his son on life support, despite medical opinions, and regularly shared updates and videos showing his son’s slight movements, like lifting a finger or turning his head.
On July 19, 2025, Prince Khaled confirmed the death of his son on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a touching Quran verse and asking for prayers. Funeral prayers for the Sleeping Prince of Saudi Arabia were held the next day at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh.

Over the years, people around the world followed the prince’s story, with social media users often sharing prayers and kind messages. His name regularly trended whenever new updates surfaced, especially videos posted by family members showing small signs of movement.
Even after 20 years in a coma, the Sleeping Prince remained a symbol of faith, patience, and love in the kingdom. His father and other royal family members stood by him until the very end, hoping for a miracle. Thousands have taken to social media to send condolences and celebrate his peaceful passing.
