The AngloGold Ashanti School Obuasi Graduation has reached its 10th edition, celebrating a full decade of academic success and student growth. This year’s ceremony, held under the theme “Empowering Generations Through Quality Education,” highlighted the school’s commitment to raising confident, disciplined, and talented learners.
The event took place on the school grounds in Obuasi and brought together 716 students moving to the next stage of their education. Among them were 252 JHS 3 graduates who were honored for their hard work and strong values. Dignitaries from AngloGold Ashanti Mine, KNUST Obuasi Campus, and the Obuasi Education Directorate joined proud parents and guardians to celebrate the milestone.

A shining moment at the AngloGold Ashanti School Obuasi Graduation was the award for Best Student, given to Isasbella Afriyie Kumi. She excelled in five subjects and thanked God, her family, and teachers for their support. Isasbella inspired her fellow students to stay focused, keep praying, and follow their dreams. She shared her plan to study science in Senior High School.
Mr. Simon P.K. Attah-Cato, Executive Director of the school, welcomed guests with a strong message. He said that education should not only teach the brain but also shape good character and emotional strength. He applauded the 2025 graduating class for showing discipline and courage. He also urged parents to consider technical and vocational education as valuable paths, alongside science and arts.
Also speaking at the AngloGold Ashanti School Obuasi Graduation was Mr. George A. Koomson, Obuasi’s Education Director. He praised the graduates and encouraged parents to stay involved in their children’s learning journey. He said the school plays a big role in improving education in the Obuasi area.
In the keynote address, Mr. Eric Broni, Senior Engineering Manager, represented AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine’s Managing Director. He confirmed the mine’s dedication to supporting education as part of its plan to help develop Obuasi. He quoted Nelson Mandela to show how education can lift people from humble beginnings to greatness.
Prof. Lawrence Darkwah, Dean at KNUST Obuasi Campus, shared a personal story. He talked about growing up with little and becoming a professor thanks to education. He encouraged students to take STEM subjects seriously, be creative thinkers, and believe in themselves.
The ceremony included powerful student performances such as poetry, drumming, dancing, and modeling. These acts showed how the school builds not just smart students, but confident and creative ones.
One emotional part of the AngloGold Ashanti School Obuasi Graduation was when graduates made a promise, led by the Executive Director, to live by the school’s core values: honesty, excellence, and service. The event ended with a declaration of graduation and prayers, sending off the students with hope for the future.
This 10th edition of the AngloGold Ashanti School Obuasi Graduation did more than celebrate school success. It proved the school’s strong role in shaping future leaders for Ghana. With its focus on quality education and innovation, the school continues to shine as a pillar of hope in the country’s educational system.
