Medical reports indicate that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer after scans and biopsy results showed progression of the disease. This led to a major surgical procedure at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, where doctors carried out a radical prostatectomy to prevent further spread.
In addition to cancer treatment, Ken Ofori-Atta has been receiving ongoing medical care for a post-COVID multi-system inflammatory condition that requires continuous monitoring. These health concerns have limited his ability to travel and contributed to his extended stay in the country.
The immigration development also coincides with legal matters in Ghana. In late 2025, the Office of the Special Prosecutor filed corruption-related charges against him, and the case is currently at the case management conference stage. These events have sparked public discussion about his possible return to Ghana.
His legal team maintains that Ken Ofori-Atta is a law-abiding individual who is focused on resolving his immigration status while continuing his medical recovery. They have urged the public to remain calm as engagements with US immigration authorities continue.
