A very sad incident happened at the Seventh-Day Adventist Senior High School (Adventist SHS) in Bantama, Ashanti Region, on Friday, April 4, 2025. A student shot two of his classmates during school hours.
The student behind the shooting is Bernard Amoabeng, a second-year student. Reports say he brought a gun to school during break time. Some students were arguing about whether the gun was real or not. To prove it was real, Bernard allegedly pulled the trigger.
Unfortunately, the gun went off and injured two students.
One of the victims, known only as Penamang, was badly hurt. She was shot in the forehead. She was first taken to Kwadaso Hospital, but because her condition was very serious, she was later transferred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. She is now in intensive care.
The second student who was shot has not been named yet. That student also received medical treatment, but details about her condition is still not clear.

After the shooting, the Suame Police quickly came to the school. They arrested Bernard and have started an investigation to find out how he got the gun and why he brought it to school.
This shocking event has left students, parents, and the whole community feeling scared and worried. Many people are now calling for stronger safety rules in schools to prevent something like this from happening again.
So far, the school and the police are working together on the case, but no full statement has been given yet.
This shooting also raises bigger concerns about student behavior and how easily young people can get access to weapons. Many believe it’s time for schools to focus more on counseling, discipline, and safety to protect students and stop such tragic events from happening again.
