The unusual exchange happened during a military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, where the two leaders walked alongside North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.

Putin’s interpreter was heard saying in Chinese: “Biotechnology is continuously developing. Human organs can be transplanted again and again. The longer you live, the younger you become, and even achieve immortality.” Xi responded: “Some predict that in this century humans may live up to 150 years old.”
Later, Putin confirmed the conversation to reporters, saying modern medical and surgical methods, including organ replacement, give hope for much longer life expectancy. Xi echoed this, noting that advances in biotechnology could make extreme longevity possible.
