A tragic Metro Mass bus robbery attack on Duuklotuk–Nakpanduri highway has left one passenger dead and three others injured after armed robbers opened fire on a moving bus in the early hours of Friday, October 10, 2025.
The Metro Mass Transit bus, which was traveling from Bunkpurugu to Tamale, was attacked around 2:27 a.m. when a group of armed men tried to stop the vehicle using torchlights. According to eyewitnesses, the driver suspected danger and decided not to stop, prompting the robbers to start shooting at the bus.
An eyewitness recounted the terrifying moment, explaining that the robbers did not block the road but used their torchlights to signal the driver. When the driver refused to stop, they fired multiple shots at the back of the vehicle. The area where the Metro Mass bus robbery attack occurred was isolated and far from any community, making it difficult for the victims to get immediate help.
The victims, including the deceased, were rushed to the Faith Community Hospital in Nakpanduri for emergency medical attention. Hospital officials confirmed that one person had died while three others were being treated for gunshot injuries.
Passengers who survived the Metro Mass bus robbery expressed deep concern about the timing of early-morning bus trips from Bunkpurugu to Tamale. Many believe that the darkness during those hours increases the chances of robbery and ambush on lonely highways.
Security experts and local residents have called for stronger police patrols along the road to protect travelers. Authorities are urging transport operators to review their travel schedules to avoid high-risk hours, as investigations continue into the bus robbery on Duuklotuk–Nakpanduri highway.
