The Obuasi Artisanal Small Scale Miners apology has brought a new turn to the discussions surrounding the concerns raised in their earlier press release on 26th November 2025. In a statement issued after a meeting with government officials in Accra, the leaders explained that they have officially withdrawn the claims made earlier. The Artisanal Small Scale Miners also expressed sincere regret to all government authorities and AngloGold Ashanti for any confusion or tension caused by their previous communication.
According to the association, the strong words used in the first statement were influenced by intense pressure from the youth in Obuasi, who have been worried and frustrated about the lack of work for small-scale miners. The leaders explained that the situation placed a heavy burden on them, which led to the release of the initial message. With the apology, they made it clear that they respect national authorities and are committed to maintaining peace and cooperation.
The miners also appealed to government representatives and AngloGold Ashanti to continue extending support to small-scale miners who are currently not working. They explained that many families depend on mining as their main source of income, and any assistance from authorities will help reduce the struggles they are facing. The Artisanal Small Scale Miners Apology highlights their hope for a stronger partnership and better understanding moving forward.
This serves as a confirmation that the association is ready to rebuild trust and ensure that communication remains respectful and constructive.
