The tragic story of a missing Ghana Immigration Officer has ended in heartbreak after his lifeless body was found at Abuom Junction near Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region. The officer, identified as 38-year-old Steffen King Amoah, had been declared missing by his family on July 3, 2025.
According to relatives, Amoah, also known as Nana Kofi, left his home at Musuku Junction in Kwabenya that evening to meet a friend at Ashongman Estate. He never returned. After numerous failed attempts to reach him, the family reported his disappearance to the Taifa Police the next day.
Suspected Murder of Missing Ghana Immigration Officer
On July 8, five days after his disappearance, his partly burnt body was discovered wrapped in a carpet along the Abuom-Abokobi road. His brother, Akwasi Amoako, who helped identify the body, said it had stab wounds on the neck and chest. The perpetrators allegedly attempted to burn the body to hide their crime.
The remains were transported to the Police Hospital Mortuary, where they are being preserved for further investigation. The sad death of the missing Ghana Immigration Officer has stunned both the local community and the Ghana Immigration Service.

What Led to the Disappearance of the Missing Ghana Immigration Officer
Reports suggest that Amoah may have been meeting his friend over a GH¢200,000 debt. The friend allegedly admitted to paying Amoah GH¢500,000 in total. However, suspicious messages sent from Amoah’s phone after he went missing made his wife question the situation. She immediately informed his brother, who visited the house and found no trace of him.
Later, a suspect, described as a close friend of Amoah, was arrested and arraigned before the Kwabenya Circuit Court. He has since been remanded as police intensify investigations into the officer’s death.
A Dedicated Officer and Family Man
Steffen King Amoah joined the Ghana Immigration Service in 2013 and was a respected figure in its Sports Department. Born and raised in Old Tafo, Kumasi, Amoah was married to a police officer. The couple had two children, a four-year-old son and a five-month-old baby.
The death of the missing Ghana Immigration Officer has raised concerns about the safety of security officers and the level of crime in the region. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward and support the ongoing investigation.
