The Ahansoyewodea Pitch project has officially started through the full support and funding of Eugene Kofi Amankwa, CEO of Eugenmat Group. This important initiative strengthens sports development in the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly and brings hope to many young footballers in the area. The vision behind the Ahansoyewodea Pitch is to create a safe, modern, and professional sports facility for the community.
Speaking at the event, Eugene Kofi Amankwa stated that Ghanaians love football and also Obuasi remains a strong pillar in Ghana’s football history, producing many talented players. He explained that he manages several footballers both abroad and in Ghana, and has invested heavily in the sport over the years. According to him, supporting people, especially those in Obuasi East has always been part of his mission.
He also shared that during the Time FM intercommunity league, he donated GHS 1,000 to several communities in Obuasi East to support their preparation for the tournament.
Recently, community leaders from Ahansoyewodea approached him for help to upgrade their pitch, which was in very poor condition. After visiting the site and seeing the state of the field, he immediately agreed to fund the transformation.
The construction of the Ahansoyewodea Pitch includes full grassing, a modern dressing room, and a secure perimeter fence. Eugene Kofi Amankwa revealed that the goal is to create a standard pitch capable of hosting even Premier League–level matches. He added that the name “Eugene Amankwa” represents charity, and this project is another example of his commitment to community development.
With these improvements, the Ahansoyewodea Pitch will soon become a quality sports facility that supports talent growth, inspires young athletes, and strengthens football in Obuasi.
