Nana Appiah Darkwa, the Odikuro of Kokoteasua in Obuasi, has urged AngloGold Ashanti to employ the youth of Kokoteasua and support the development of the community. He made this appeal while addressing the youth at a community gathering.
According to Nana Appiah Darkwa, AngloGold Ashanti has operated its tailings dam in Kokoteasua for many years but has done little to improve the lives of the people. He explained that unemployment is a major challenge facing the youth, and he has proposed that the company provide jobs for them.

Apart from employment, the Nana Appiah also requested a community center, a hospital, good roads, and a palace for Kokoteasua. He mentioned that AngloGold Ashanti has agreed to support some of these projects once the community begins construction.
Nana Appiah Darkwa further advised the youth to live responsibly. He warned against stealing, fighting, and other criminal activities, urging everyone to live a decent life. He also stressed the need to keep the environment clean, noting that washing vehicles on the main road and dumping rubbish carelessly will not be tolerated.

He encouraged the youth to embrace the principle of “see something, say something” by reporting any bad practices that can harm the community’s development.
Nana Appiah Darkwa hopes AngloGold Ashanti will create more opportunities and bring lasting growth to Kokoteasua.
