The French superstar, Kylian Mbappé, just reached an amazing new record. He became the youngest player this century to score 400 goals in his professional career. This huge achievement puts him in a very rare club. The only other player in history to score 400 goals before turning 26 was the legendary Pelé. This makes Kylian Mbappé a true great of the modern game.

The 26-year-old forward scored two goals in France’s big 4–0 win against Ukraine. This win helped France secure their spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His second goal was the one that marked his 400th career goal. No other player in the 21st century has reached this total faster than the Real Madrid star.

Pelé, who many call the greatest player ever, reached the 400-goal mark when he was only 23. People have often compared Mbappé to Pelé since the Frenchman was a teenager. This started in 2018 when he was only the second teenager to score in a World Cup final, just like Pelé did in 1958.

Kylian Mbappé has had a fantastic start to the 2025–26 season. He has already scored 23 goals in just 20 matches for his club and his national team. When you look at other stars, Mbappé’s speed is clear. Lionel Messi was 27 when he hit 400 goals. Cristiano Ronaldo was almost 29.

Mbappé is moving faster than these legends did at the same point in their careers. After his record-setting game, Mbappé said that 400 goals is not enough to impress people. He wants to leave his mark on football history, so he aims to score much more. He looks up to players who have scored over 900 goals. Even so, his current path shows that Kylian Mbappé is set to be one of the all-time best.
