Key Details About the Suspect and the Crime

Robinson was a student at Utah State University for one semester in 2021, majoring in pre-engineering. Although he had no prior criminal record, a family member told officials that Robinson “had become more political in recent years” and had criticized Kirk, claiming he was “full of hate.”

A key piece of evidence was the rifle believed to have been used in the assassination of Charlie Kirk. It was described as a German-made Mauser bolt-action rifle, a type known for its long range and accuracy, but slow rate of fire. Casings and an unfired cartridge found with the weapon had messages written on them. One read, “Hey fascist! Catch!” while another was a reference to an Italian antifascist song.
