The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed all Senior High School heads to immediately refund 2025 WASSCE practical fees collected from students or their guardians. This strong directive follows the government’s full sponsorship of the 2025 WASSCE practical exams, covering all necessary materials and logistics.

Despite this government support, some schools still charged students for the practicals. In response, GES has instructed that every 2025 WASSCE practical fee taken must be returned without delay. All refunds must be properly documented, and official receipts must be issued to confirm the repayment process.

According to a memo signed by Acting Deputy Director-General Prof. Smile Dzisi, school heads must inform their Regional Directors once the refund process is complete. The GES emphasized that this move is to prevent any student from missing the examination due to financial challenges.

GES also warned that failure to comply with this directive will be treated as a serious violation and could attract disciplinary action. The Service urged Regional Directors to make sure this information reaches all school heads across districts and municipalities.

This directive reinforces the government’s commitment to free and inclusive education for all. The full funding for 2025 WASSCE practical exams is meant to ease the pressure on families and give every candidate equal access to the necessary materials and opportunities.

The immediate refund of 2025 WASSCE practical fees is not just a financial correction, it’s a step toward ensuring fairness and accountability within Ghana’s education system.
