The free NHIS registration in Obuasi East has brought hope and relief to thousands of residents, thanks to a generous initiative led by Eugene Kofi Amankwaa, CEO of Eugenmat Travel and Consult. In collaboration with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), this ongoing exercise is giving residents, especially the poor and underprivileged, access to essential healthcare coverage at no cost.
The current registration team was stationed at Asonkore and Pomposo. Residents in those areas were encouraged to take advantage of this golden opportunity. The free NHIS registration in Obuasi East is part of Mr. Eugene Kofi Amankwaa’s broader commitment to improving community well-being through leadership and compassion.
As of the sixth day of the exercise, over 2,000 people have successfully registered. The excitement among the beneficiaries is overwhelming. Many are expressing deep gratitude for the initiative. One resident, Mr. Samuel Asante from Bossman, shared his experience:
“Initially, I didn’t hear the information. I was just passing by and saw people going through the process. I asked and found out that Mr. Eugene Kofi Amankwaa was offering free NHIS registration. My NHIS had already expired, so I was thrilled. I renewed it without paying a penny.”

Another resident, Akosua Owusuaa, said:
“I registered myself and my whole family. This is a good deed from Mr. Eugene Kofi Amankwaa. It’s completely free, which encouraged me. I even started going house to house to tell others to come and register.”
A woman who came with eight children, six her own and two from her extended family, was amazed by the support.
“They registered all eight children for free. I was already telling others about it in my neighborhood. I’m encouraging everyone in the municipality to participate.”
The free NHIS registration in Obuasi East is more than just a healthcare initiative; it’s a powerful step toward equality and accessible healthcare for all. It is helping the community take a step toward quality and affordable healthcare for all.
