A recent government operation in Ghana has led to the major arrest of Chinese illegal miners in the Ashanti Region. This successful mission highlights the ongoing fight against destructive galamsey activities. Security forces captured ten suspects and found a large collection of weapons and mining tools. The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) carried out this intelligence-based operation. A large team executed a planned raid near Abesua. To keep their mission secret, the officers used disguises to enter the area. This smart move prevented the miners from being warned.
During the raid, the task force werw able to arrest the arrest of Chinese illegal miners in Ghana. The ten individuals were caught actively destroying the land. The environmental damage they left behind was severe. After their capture, officials moved the suspects to Accra for questioning.
The items seized during this operation were shocking. Along with typical mining tools, the team found ten pump-action guns, two (2) weapon bags, a Hilux pickup truck, a Land Cruiser Prado, three (3) motorbikes, gold scales, an excavator battery, a pressure washing machine, and $4,600 in cash, along with thirteen (13) mobile phones.. A senior NAIMOS director stated that finding such weapons is a serious national security threat. He confirmed that the secretariat will continue its mission.
