Ghanaian DStv subscribers will start enjoying more value for their money from October 1, 2025, after a new agreement between the Government of Ghana and MultiChoice Africa.
The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, announced that DStv has introduced a special offer in Ghana that will give customers between 33% and 50% more value depending on their subscription package.
This move follows weeks of discussions between the government, the National Communications Authority (NCA), and MultiChoice to address concerns about high subscription costs in Ghana.
According to the Minister, the DStv value upgrade in Ghana will automatically move subscribers to higher bouquets while they continue paying the same old prices.
For example:
- Customers on the Padi bouquet (GH¢59) will now be upgraded to the Access bouquet (GH¢99), gaining 35 extra channels and saving 40%.
- Access bouquet (GH¢99) subscribers will move to the Family bouquet (GH¢190), adding 19 extra channels with 48% savings.
- Family bouquet (GH¢190) users will be upgraded to Compact (GH¢380) with 22 extra channels, including live football, saving 50%.
- Those on Compact (GH¢380) will shift to Compact Plus (GH¢570), adding 12 more channels with 33% savings.
- Compact Plus (GH¢570) customers will now enjoy the Premium bouquet (GH¢865) with 18 additional channels and a 34% increase in value.
Premium subscribers (GH¢865) will retain their package but also get entered into a special draw to win trips to watch selected English Premier League matches.
The Minister emphasized that the DStv value upgrade in Ghana is available to both new and existing subscribers, with no restrictions on bouquet choices.
Aside from the bouquet upgrades, MultiChoice Africa has also announced a 50% discount on its decoder and dish kit package, reducing the cost to GH¢555 for new customers.
The changes come after several complaints about rising subscription fees in Ghana. The NCA set up a stakeholder committee to review DStv’s pricing and ensure affordability for households. With this new agreement, customers will now enjoy more services at lower costs, while the company maintains its operations in the Ghanaian market.
Samuel George praised the offer, describing it as an “unprecedented value upgrade” that puts Ghanaian subscribers first.
