Abigail Logi, a midwife at AngloGold Ashanti Hospital, has been named the 2024 Ashanti Regional Best Nurse at the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwifery Awards. She expressed her gratitude to God, her patients, the event organizers, and the hospital management for their support.
Abigail introduced an easy way for pregnant women to track their baby’s kicks, starting with stones and tick sheets. This method has evolved into a mobile app that helps midwives monitor baby movements. She explained that ten kicks in 24 hours is normal, but more than 20 kicks can indicate a problem. In such cases, women are advised to report to their midwife for proper care.
She urged young nurses to work hard, use technology wisely, and focus on helping people rather than seeking opportunities abroad. She believes success comes from making a difference in Ghana.
Abigail also shared her plans to support pregnant women, reduce teenage pregnancies, and address substance abuse in her community. She ended by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, praying for strength to make 2024 a better year for all.
